Current version

In this lesson, we’ll take a look at how time slots are currently set up in the app — and what could be improved.

The feature is called hours, but that name doesn’t always help users understand what it actually does. Worse, the interface hides some of the important logic behind tabs and pages that aren’t clearly marked.

In the current version, there is a page called hours. This feature allows you to set a weekly schedule for your posts in two different ways:

  1. Automatic — Fedica will pick the best hours for you.
  2. Exact time — You choose the exact time you want to publish your posts.

What problems do we have here?

Copy

First of all, the term hours is a somewhat unusual. Similar apps tend to use such terms as
time slots, queue, calendar, schedule and so on.

Then, when you go to a sub-URL, you may see hours repeated twice. So there are two pages with
different functions that share the same name. It might be better to be more precise here.

Another thing that you may note is the fact that there are 2 pages: optimized hours and exact time. On both pages
you can't see that structure. In both cases you are "on the same page", which is "hours".

Let me clarify what I mean. Imagine there are breadcrumbs that show:

  1. Hours -> Optimized
  2. Hours -> Exact time

To switch between these two pages, you have to go to the list of hours and then the second page.
In the case of breadcrumbs, you can switch without having to navigate to the hours list page.

Flexibility

Another thing is that in the "automatic" section, users can choose the number
of posts per day while Fedica decides the best time to publish your posts.

Basically it means that you tell Fedica,
"I want to post from 00:00 am to 11:59 pm on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday", as an example.

Note that you cannot select your own time periods and then let Fedica decide the best hours
for each period. It would be more flexible, since you may need to post only in certain
time periods (e.g., evening), but you don't want to decide when the post will be published.

If you want the exact time for each day, you can do it in another section.
If you want Fedica to consider the whole day as a time period, you will be able to do so by choosing a 24-hour period for each day.
